The cyrogenic vaporizer for small scale LNG and other cryogenic applications
Analytical Solutions and Products offers the MicroPhazer, a compact cryogenic probe-vaporizer, to companies in bio-LNG, CO2, and related industries that need efficient sampling solutions. Designed for small scale applications like bio-LNG and CO2 production, LNG bunkering, and spot checks on LNG carriers, the MicroPhazer, manufactured by ASaP, delivers superior performance, precision, and reliability—ideal for obtaining accurate, representative samples for process and quality control.
What makes the MicroPhazer stand out in small scale LNG and other applications?
At the core of the MicroPhazer’s appeal is its ability to deliver verifiably accurate LNG samples, even at very low pressures, such as 0.5 barg. This precision is essential for small-scale LNG applications, including bio-LNG production, where precise composition analysis impacts product quality and regulatory compliance. With a standard deviation of just 0.0019 MJ/Nm³ during ship-to-ship transfers, the MicroPhazer ensures that your small-scale LNG samples are both reliable and representative.
- The MicroPhazer, like its big brother, provides accurate and representative LNG samples from 0,1 barg.
- It conforms to ISO 8943:2007 and surpasses EN 12838:2000.
- It is available in a wide array of models to suit your (process) specific needs.
- There are no moving parts.
The MicroPhazer is tested under small scale LNG process conditions
ASaP is actively involved in the (re)writing of small scale LNG and other international standards, ensuring rigorous testing is embedded within the organization.
For the Dutch metrology institute, VSL, ASaP designed, built, and tested the first and only commercially available test unit in accordance with EN 12838:2000. Additionally, for internal testing, ASaP has developed and built two generations of test units for the MicroPhazer and other vaporizers.
With market advancements, such as optical in-situ measurements using Raman and Infrared spectroscopy, ASaP’s 3rd generation test unit can simultaneously test two identical or different devices. This setup allows for the precise determination of uncertainties and differences between devices and/or analytical methods under controlled and simulated process conditions.
Low maintenance and high durability
One of the standout features of the MicroPhazer, ideal for small scale LNG applications, is its simple design. With no moving parts and minimal maintenance requirements, the MicroPhazer is both cost-effective and durable, significantly reducing downtime and operational costs. Its lack of fragile components means fewer potential issues, allowing maintenance teams to spend less time on repairs.
Versatility for Multiple Applications, more than small scale LNG
The Phazer is available in a wide array of probe-vaporizers to suit not just small scale LNG, but all your cryogenic applications. The MicroPhazer is designed for versatility. Whether you need a portable LNG probe-vaporizer for spot checks or a permanent installation for ongoing LNG bunkering operations, the MicroPhazer can adapt to your needs. Its compact design, approximately 50 kg in weight, makes it easy to install and operate in a variety of settings, whether offshore or onshore.
The Phazer Probe-Vaporizer model overview
The MicroPhazer is cost efficiency with fast ROI
In addition to its operational benefits, the MicroPhazer, designed for small scale LNG applications, offers a fast return on investment. Users have reported an ROI in as little as 1-2 weeks, making it not only a high-performance tool but also an economically smart choice for businesses aiming to optimize their LNG operations. Whether for large-scale LNG operations or niche small scale LNG and bio-LNG projects, the MicroPhazer is making a significant impact across the industry.
“At the request of ASaP this letter may serve as reference.
It is the most advanced design which is currently commercially available on the market. It is the only LNG vaporizer and sampling system which take care for a subcooling of the sample before vaporization. The flange connection avoids any unnecessary heat leak on the sample transfer to the LNG vaporizer system. Due to the flexible design on the orifice and heater system, the flow can be easily adjusted to the process requirements as well as to the required flow rate to overcome the natural heat input to the sample.
There are no moving parts, and it is flexible in configuration. Installation work on site is expected to be kept to a minimum. Operational and maintenance costs are predicted to be minimal. The ASaP solution appears to be the perfect match for a happy customer from the Middle East with regards to technical requirements, flexibility and planning. A return on investment of 1 to 2 weeks is predicted.
The functionality of the system was tested, and the outcome is above expectation. Even without proper insulation on the transfer part, the contact temperature on the bottom part (close to the hot section) was found to be below -150°).”

From small scale LNG to complete fleets. A Proven Track Record
The MicroPhazer is already being adopted by industry leaders in large- and small scale LNG applications. For example, Kröhne Italy ordered 12 MicroPhazers for an LNG bunkering project. Additionally, the device has been successfully implemented in small scale LNG plants, reinforcing its reputation for reliability and effectiveness. With over 100 installations worldwide, the MicroPhazer has consistently proven its value across various small-scale LNG operations.
Real-world impact: Small scale LNG success stories
Several notable success stories highlight the impact of the MicroPhazer. ASaP has supplied MicroPhazers for projects such as Ruhe bio-LNG plants in Germany, where they are used to ensure accurate vaporization and sampling of bio-LNG, a key player in the renewable energy market. Other installations include LNG bunkering operations, ship-to-ship transfers, and mobile LNG sampling systems for fuel quality analysis.
Each of these projects demonstrates the versatility and effectiveness of the MicroPhazer in various real-world small scale LNG settings. Whether for renewable energy initiatives like bio-LNG or traditional LNG operations, the MicroPhazer has proven to be indispensable for ensuring accurate LNG sampling and vaporization.
